Clipboard trigger

Translate copied text automatically on your Mac

Copy an email in Spanish, paste it in English. Every time, without opening a translator.

Open Trama with Cmd+Option+X and type “When I copy text in another language, translate it to English.” Trama builds an automation that runs on every copy: if the text is not in English, AI translates it and puts the translation back on your clipboard, so the next paste is already in English.

What to type

Press Cmd+Option+X from any app and describe it in your own words. For example:

“When I copy text in another language, translate it to English and put it back on my clipboard.”

If anything is unclear — which spreadsheet, which channel, what time — Trama asks before it builds.

What Trama builds

  1. Trigger: Clipboard. Runs every time you copy text with Cmd+C, in any app.
  2. AI step. Your AI provider translates the text to English, and leaves text that is already in English alone.
  3. Output: Clipboard. The translation replaces what you copied. Paste it anywhere.

You see these steps before anything runs. Ask questions, change any of them in plain English, then switch the automation on.

Make it yours

Change it by saying what you want different:

  • “…translate it to Portuguese” — any target language works.
  • “…and show me the translation in a notification instead” — keeps your original on the clipboard.
  • “Only when I copy from Mail” — limits it to one app.

What you need

Any plan, including Free. An AI provider: Claude Code, Codex, or an API key (Google Gemini has a free tier). Trama runs on macOS 15.7 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Your Mac can do that automatically.

Download Trama, press Cmd+Option+X and describe it.
