TramaUse casesCopy the text out of every screenshot

Screenshot trigger

Copy the text from every screenshot automatically

Every screenshot you take, its text is already on your clipboard. OCR runs on your Mac.

Tell Trama: “Extract the text from every screenshot I take and copy it to my clipboard.” Each time you save a screenshot, Trama reads its text on your Mac with Apple’s Vision OCR and puts it on your clipboard. Without an AI step, the image and its text never leave your Mac.

What to type

Press Cmd+Option+X from any app and describe it in your own words. For example:

“Extract the text from every screenshot I take and copy it to my clipboard.”

If anything is unclear — which spreadsheet, which channel, what time — Trama asks before it builds.

What Trama builds

  1. Trigger: Screenshot taken. Runs when a new screenshot is saved.
  2. OCR Capture. Extracts the text locally, with Apple’s Vision framework.
  3. Output: Clipboard. The text is ready to paste.

You see these steps before anything runs. Ask questions, change any of them in plain English, then switch the automation on.

Make it yours

Change it by saying what you want different:

  • “…and explain any error message in it.” — adds an AI step.
  • “…save it to a note in Apple Notes.”
  • “…translate it to English first.”

What you need

Any plan, including Free. macOS may ask for permission the first time. No AI provider needed for the plain version. Trama runs on macOS 15.7 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Your Mac can do that automatically.

Download Trama, press Cmd+Option+X and describe it.
