Keyboard shortcut

Rewrite selected text in any app with a keyboard shortcut

Select a messy paragraph, press a shortcut, and a clean version is typed in its place.

Type into Trama: “When I press Option+R, rewrite the text I selected so it’s clear and friendly, and paste it in place.” Trama registers the shortcut, captures your selection in whatever app you are in, has AI rewrite it, and types the new version over the old one.

What to type

Press Cmd+Option+X from any app and describe it in your own words. For example:

“When I press Option+R, rewrite the text I selected so it is clear and friendly, and paste it in place.”

If anything is unclear — which spreadsheet, which channel, what time — Trama asks before it builds.

What Trama builds

  1. Trigger: Selected text. Your shortcut captures the text selected in the frontmost app.
  2. AI step. Rewrites it with the instruction you gave: clearer, shorter, more formal, fixed grammar…
  3. Output: Paste in place. Types the result into the app, replacing the selection.

You see these steps before anything runs. Ask questions, change any of them in plain English, then switch the automation on.

Make it yours

Change it by saying what you want different:

  • “Option+S: turn my notes into a Slack message.”
  • “Option+E: translate the selection to English.”
  • Several workflows can share one shortcut — Trama then asks which one to run.

What you need

Any plan, including Free. Accessibility permission, so Trama can read the selection and type. An AI provider. Trama runs on macOS 15.7 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Your Mac can do that automatically.
