Screenshot trigger

Screenshot a receipt and log it in Google Sheets automatically

Take a screenshot of a receipt. The amount, merchant and date land in your expense sheet.

Describe it once in Trama: “Every time I take a screenshot of a receipt, extract the amount and add it to my expense spreadsheet.” Trama watches for new screenshots, reads the text on your Mac with Apple’s Vision OCR, has AI pull out the total, merchant and date, and appends a row to Google Sheets.

What to type

Press Cmd+Option+X from any app and describe it in your own words. For example:

“Every time I take a screenshot of a receipt, extract the amount, merchant and date and add a row to my Expenses spreadsheet.”

If anything is unclear — which spreadsheet, which channel, what time — Trama asks before it builds.

What Trama builds

  1. Trigger: Screenshot taken. Runs when a new screenshot is saved to your screenshot folder.
  2. OCR Capture. Extracts the text from the image on your Mac, with Apple’s Vision framework.
  3. AI step. Finds the total, merchant and date, and skips screenshots that are not receipts.
  4. Google Sheets: Append. Adds one row to the spreadsheet you named.

You see these steps before anything runs. Ask questions, change any of them in plain English, then switch the automation on.

Make it yours

Change it by saying what you want different:

  • “…and also tell me in a notification what was logged.”
  • “…put the category in a fourth column (food, travel, software…).”
  • “Only screenshots I take between 9am and 6pm.”
